Sampson was a feral cat that adopted us early in 2000 at the San Diego KOA RV Park, where we spend nine months before David retired and we could hit the road. We moved into the RV Park with a 16 year old cat that was deaf and slept a lot, when one day she slept in the wrong place and a truck came through the RV Park and ran over her. After burying her Nancy began to put some of her food out for the many black and white short hair feral cats in the RV Park. One day this huge gray and white long hair cat came to eat some of the food. He came back every night for his supper and finally decided this was as good as place as any to spend time dozing and eating his 5 meals a day. The vet who neutered him said he was between 3 to 5 years old. He was a good traveling cat but didn't like dogs or kids, and in 12 years had been in all lower 48 states, Alaska, the Yukon and a few Canadian Providences. One night in Port Ludlow, WA he went out and never returned. The next day we found gray and white fur scattered around where the coyotes got him. A sad day, but he had eaten his share of small mammals and his waterloo finally came to be supper for some coyotes. He will be missed.
